"The Green Games Gold Award is a tangible achievement of our commitment, and we’re proud to be formally recognized by Arlington County for our sustainability practices that contribute to improving our environment."

SRA International, Inc., a leading provider of technology and strategic consulting services and solutions to government organizations, today announced it has received a Gold Award – the highest level of recognition – for its participation in the Arlington County Green Games competition.

SRA was one of more than 100 companies with buildings and offices participating in the Green Games, representing roughly 15 million square feet, or one third, of Arlington’s office space. During a 12-month competition to reduce waste, energy and water use and set other environmental goals, SRA and other participants deployed energy-efficient and sustainable practices that realized a collective savings of $2 million and prevented the release of 10,000 tons of CO2–the equivalent of taking 1,996 passenger vehicles off the road for one year.

“As a company with a premier environmental consulting practice, SRA has been committed to environmental stewardship for many years. SRA’s ‘Go Green’ initiatives and the sustainability practices we apply to our business operations help us operate more efficiently and with a lighter environmental footprint,” said SRA President & CEO Bill Ballhaus. “The Green Games Gold Award is a tangible achievement of our commitment, and we’re proud to be formally recognized by Arlington County for our sustainability practices that contribute to improving our environment.”

Green Games is part of Arlington County's Fresh AIRE (Arlington Initiative to Reduce Emissions) Program, and is one of many programs developed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The year-long competition consisted of sustainability commitments ranging from simple actions like setting printers to default to double-sided printing and powering down computers, to more involved efforts like conducting energy and waste audits, installing new energy efficient lighting and water management systems, and developing green purchasing policies.
